In May 2024, Zedcrest Wealth made an open call for campus ambassadors nationwide. The goal was simple yet ambitious: to launch a student-led initiative that would make financial literacy accessible across Nigerian universities, and we achieved this goal.
We received applications from students curious about money, passionate about self-development, and eager to champion financial literacy on their campuses. By the end of our recruitment process, we had selected 13 dedicated ambassadors across 4 universities, ready to transform how their peers think about money.
It’s been a year since then, and now, the first cohort of the Zedcrest Wealth Campus Ambassadors Program has officially graduated. Before we unpack the highlights from the program, let’s take a step back to explore the story behind this initiative and why it matters.
Why the Zedcrest Wealth Campus Ambassadors Program?
For most young people, university is the first taste of financial independence. Suddenly, you’re managing allowances, juggling academic demands and rent, and making choices that often shape future financial habits. Unfortunately, not everyone receives formal financial education, so these habits are often built through trial and error. These young individuals understand that money is important, but very few grasp how to manage it effectively.
According to the Central Bank of Nigeria, less than 40% of Nigerian adults are financially literate. That means millions of people enter adulthood without understanding concepts such as saving, investing, building wealth, or managing debt.
This is where our Campus Ambassador Program comes in. At Zedcrest Wealth, financial education is at the core of everything we do. Through this initiative, we equip students with the knowledge to make smarter financial choices that shape their future and champion financial literacy among their peers.
How the Campus Ambassador Program is Closing the Financial Education Gap
We provide students with comprehensive resources and opportunities to enhance their knowledge of finance through the Zedcrest Wealth app—the best investment app on the planet.
As the President of the Investment Literacy Club at my school, I have a passion for investment and an eagerness to teach others about financial growth. Becoming a Zedcrest Wealth Ambassador has helped me achieve this in many ways than one. This experience has significantly expanded my investment knowledge and portfolio management skills. I’m grateful for the opportunity to represent a platform that truly understands the needs of young investors.
– Ubah Hilary (Ex-Campus Ambassador, Pan-Atlantic University)
However, our approach extends far beyond simply promoting a product; we’re building a sustainable model of community-led financial education, where students learn practical and engaging ways to understand and apply financial knowledge. Here’s how:
- For the first six months of the program, we work intensively with our ambassadors, equipping them with the skills and confidence needed to fulfill their roles effectively. We do this through weekly training sessions. These sessions ensure that they’re thoroughly prepared to deliver value to their campus communities when they begin organizing and hosting their own events and knowledge-sharing sessions.,
- We facilitate monthly financial literacy sessions that cover core money management topics, including budgeting, saving, investing, debt management, and portfolio management. These sessions are often led by finance professionals from Zedcrest Wealth and other guest experts, who share practical insights.
- To demonstrate that financial education can be fun and engaging, we organize our Money Titan tournaments, where participants can test their financial knowledge in a healthy competition, and the winners receive cash prizes.
The impact and scale of our first cohort have exceeded our expectations. In just one year:
- 13 ambassadors represented Zedcrest Wealth across 4 universities.
- We’ve successfully engaged over 2,000 students who participated in events and sessions.
- Our ambassadors facilitated and hosted more than 17 student-led events across campuses. Each event represents hours of preparation, passionate presentations, and meaningful conversations about money, all driven by students who understand their peers’ unique challenges and aspirations.

Beyond the numbers, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with students consistently reporting an improvement in their confidence in financial knowledge and money habits. The campus ambassadors themselves reported growth not just in financial knowledge, but also in leadership, confidence, networking, and communication skills.
“The last year as a Zedcrest Wealth Campus Ambassador has been one of the most defining seasons of my life. When I applied, I was eager to grow, not knowing how far it would take me. Since then, I have developed and improved my skills in financial literacy, public speaking, leadership, and teamwork. I’m more passionate than ever about helping young people, especially ladies, understand and take control of their finances.”
– Victoria Adeoye (Ex-Campus Ambassador, Obafemi Awolowo University)
Through our on-campus events and countless one-on-one conversations, I’ve seen firsthand how the right knowledge can inspire young people to take charge of their futures. It wasn’t just about onboarding people to a platform; it was about sparking meaningful conversations, breaking down financial concepts, and showing that building wealth is possible even as a student.
– Adebimpe Adetoba (Ex-Campus Ambassador, Pan-Atlantic University)
In essence, the program equips them to lead in both money matters and personal growth.
A Graduation to Remember
To celebrate our first cohort of campus ambassadors, we hosted the first-ever Campus Ambassadors graduation ceremony at our headquarters in Lagos. The event began with introductions and networking, followed by a presentation that highlighted some of their achievements and the collective impact they made.

The ambassadors shared their stories and positive experiences, providing valuable feedback about their interactions with the Zedcrest Wealth app. Their insights have already informed improvements to our platform and program structure, demonstrating the genuine partnership we’ve built with these student leaders.
The ceremony also featured an inspiring address from Renah Osiemi, Managing Director of Zedcrest Wealth, who emphasized how the ambassadors could leverage their newly acquired skills to build compelling personal brands. She encouraged them to improve their networking skills, build relationships, and remain open to the experiences and lessons that new challenges bring. Her message resonated deeply as she also highlighted how the leadership, communication, and public speaking abilities they had developed through the program could become powerful differentiators in their future careers and personal endeavours.

Throughout the event, ambassadors had the opportunity to meet and interact with key team leads from across the organization, including our Product Marketing Lead, Adetayo Jinadu; Group Head of Human Resources & Admin, Oyinkansola Adeiye; and one of our Portfolio Managers, Charles Njoku.
Toward the end of the ceremony, each ambassador received a certificate of participation, marking their dedication and the impact they’ve achieved within their campus communities.

In addition, some of the ambassadors were honored with Certificates of Excellence for outstanding performances during the program.

The atmosphere throughout the ceremony was one of genuine excitement, pride, and celebration. These young leaders had invested months in learning, growing, and serving their communities, and their enthusiasm was infectious.
After the formalities, the celebration concluded with a private movie viewing experience at Filmhouse Cinemas IMAX—a perfect, relaxing end to an intensive and meaningful journey.
